Experience
I left my career in Engineering in order to pursue a career in Education and Social Services. I absolutely love working with youth and am currently serving in an AmeriCorps role teaching dating violence prevention in Deschutes County. Since this is a soft skill, I am also looking to maintain my connection to math education. I am a very logical thinker and have experience with real-word science and math applications as an engineer at IBM. I understand that this subject can often be overwhelming and stressful for students and I am very passionate about breaking it down and making it relevant and easy to understand. I have experience working as a long-term substitute teacher in Algebra and Geometry, where I developed my own curriculum and maintained all responsibilities of a full-time teacher. I have also been tutoring math in Bend for the last year (Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2). I have worked with a wide variety of students, including those with developmental disabilities and/or IEP's. Whether you/your student's goals are to excel and be challenged, or just to pass the course, I am very good at tailoring my approach and providing the support that is needed for your individual situation.
